COURSE

All Aquathon’s start at Wollongong harbour. Each swim varies in distance as per course information. Maps display the swim course. On the day the water is typically a warm 20-23 degrees. Whilst protected from most large seas, wind and rain can affect the swim- be prepared for calm and crsystal clear, to windswept. We have delivered over 40+ aquathon’s in the harbour, maintaining a near perfect safety record and ensure to select the safest swim and have a team of excellent lifesavers supporting you. Note: swim course may change on the day due to conditions and at descretion of event director/water safety officer due to safety.

The transition, known as the change area is just out of the harbour on the concrete pathway. Place your shoes/clothes and any other attire you need for your run. You can leave your goggles/wetsuit here (but ensure you return to collect or have a friend collect for you).

Teams – your tag area (tag meaning swap time chip from the swimmer to the runner ankle) is also on this area. Refer to signs/marshals. Team swimmer runs up to this area and takes off the velcro and places on the ground and steps back. The runner moves forward and grabs the ankle strap and places on thier own ankle- simple!

The run is super spectacular. Head north along the famous blue mile passing the historic continental pool and coastal path to north beach, from here it’s on the grass parkland watching the skydives as they land- and more cycle way to one of three turn markers depending on your distance. ALL aquathon run finishes on the soft sand of North Beach. You will exit the grass and run down a ramp onto the soft sand for a 100m fun and hard finish!

Course marshals and signage will ensure you are the right course.

Water is offered at the 1.5km mark (twice for  Mini and Big Aqua) and at the finish line (with fruit).

*Ensure you are aware your finish is at north beach, so you need to walk back (900m) to the harbour or have someone collect your swim gear for you.

NOTE: Courses may change due to safety considerations.

Minimal 1 x IRB’s for harbour swim venue and two (2) for ocean swims
Lifeguard operated jet ski’s with mats (subject to event and venue)
